If a person seems like they have any independent thoughts or any desire to think, they are a danger to the Party and a threat that will be removed. In order for the party to remain in complete political power, it must prevail to be the most knowledgeable figure in its society. Language is a political weapon that anyone can fall victim too. Syme helps prove that when language is corrupted and thought is contaminated, a society can be easily manipulated and convinced of anything. The Party is slowly changing and integrating Newspeak into all of Oceanas Party members who are completely going along with it, without complaint.
