Engineering Closest To My Goal

As a kid, I often wondered about what my future career would be; I did not want to work for someone else or be stuck in a field that I hated, but rather I wanted to create something of my own, The idea of being a self-made man was something my father taught me, which influenced me from the time I was a small child. I tried pitching ideas for various products to my dad, none of which were practical, such as an “automatic hot dog maker,” but I never faltered in my ability to produce worthless products.

My plans for the future changed when I saw a Show about Carl Sagan and all of his amazing discoveries relating to extraterrestrialst His experiments and research influenced my decision to delve into the world of science, My hunger for knowledge remained most unsatisfied in my childhood, as my father, lacking physics knowledge, could offer little in the way of answers to “Where does the wind come from?” or “Why is the sky blue?”

In order to learn more, I began visiting my local library to read books and look online to learn more about physics.

This research lead to my discovery of NASA, and created my desire to visit NASA to learn more about their experiments. Over the course of many weeks, I convinced my dad to allow me to visit the NASAAmes Research Center. Walking through their exhibits proved a strong impact on my nine—year—old self, as I had never seen things like materials for suits and spaceships outside of books.

Meanwhile, the curator must have thought me awfully rude, ignoring everything she was saying. Upon my return home, I felt that my life had a purpose: to become a scientist so that I could discover more about our universe like the researchers at NASA.

”Scientist” is a broad term, but that decision I made as an elementary school kid has allowed me to explore the many fields of science and realize that physics is the field that appeals to me the most. My first priority in high school was to pursue a greater understanding of science, In line with this, I co-founded a physics club so to learn about physics and conduct experiments outside of school, The seemingly—arduous tasks of typing numbers into a calculator, plugging variables into equations, and drawing diagrams was oddly fun for me. In addition, I would come into class every Wednesday after school with fellow club members to study for the Physics C test to further demonstrate our physics and calculus knowledge. Through group studying efforts and a teacher with access to AP material, our group did extremely well on the test with a near perfect pass rate.

Along with the AP test, I helped prepare the club for a variety of other physics tests and competitions, which many of us did poorly on Even in the face of those impossible tests, I remained driven to learn more. This passion has remained with me, and I found that the field of mechanical engineering aligns closest with my goal of practicing and studying physics while allowing for ample job opportunities, My plan after high school is centered on learning more about the world around me, which taking mechanical engineering seems the best choice as it allows both learning and opportunity to further myselfi By focusing on the field of science, my journey through life follows my career choices while still allowing for my enjoyment While these choices might not create a rich man, they will create a learned rnani
