Students always find a way to avoid the consequences of cheating, no matter how carefully schools work to prevent it. For some students cheating is an easy way to get good grades. However, many students think that their individual dishonesty will not affect anyone else. One effect of student cheating is that the student is not learning anything. Some students get into the habit of cheating, they don’t study and in the long term cheating affects the student’s career development. When the student decides to cheat he may or may not know the material.
What the student fails to realize is that the material that the course is offering is a requirement to use in everyday life. Whatever the student does not learn in the course because of cheating will affect them to get a job with a good pay, because of the fact that the student never learned the material of the course. When a student takes an exam the results of this exam supposed to show the level of knowledge that the student has on the material that the course offers. In fact, there is no employer that would keep a person that has no knowledge for the job they applied for.
Another effect is that the student pays somebody else to do the work and take the credit for it as their own without realizing the effects this behavior creates. This kind of student thinks that they don’t have to do anything to pass the class as long they turn in a paper whether is theirs or not, they will receive the credit for the work. The worst thing that could happen to the student that turns someone else’s work as their own is that this student does not gain any knowledge. The student won’t learn anything from the work that others do.
Students would learn more by doing their own work and learning from their own mistakes. The cheater would always expect someone else to do the work for them, and when the time comes that they have to do the work themselves they are not going to know how to start. This people would not be able to be responsible for the things they need to do and would never have the creativity to do something on their own, and by being so use to having someone else doing the work for them the will fail at anything by trying to accomplish something.
For instance, a student does very poor on the most important exam of the course, this bad grade will make the student remember what he did wrong or right and what they could have done better. If the student does not do the work himself he would never learn from his own mistakes. The lack of knowledge is another effect on students that cheat. Now students cheat to obtain good grades without realizing that is harming them. The lack of knowledge on students generates cheating.
A student could be influence really easy by another that cheats and gets good grades by doing so little work. Unfortunately, by doing small amount of work could ruin a student life because they are not putting the effort to learn the material in the proper way, which is by studying and learning. When a student cheats is because he has a low-self esteem and lack of morals that cause the student to maintain an acceptable grade by cheating. The student that looses confidence in him and chooses to cheat will end with negative effects.
Furthermore, if the student keeps having unacceptable grades is most likely that he would chose to cheat in order to get better grades. Lastly, failures to study do to the lack of motivation generate cheating. By cheating the student tries to make up for the lack of knowledge, because he did not study for a test. In addition, a student will cheat to avoid doing work that has been previously assigned. Also, when class work is assigned and knowledge from the previous lesson is needed a cheater will always find the way to get work done.
Finally, if a student is caught cheating the consequences is always crucial. When the student is caught cheating he will face the failure of the exam or even failure of the course, or expulsion of the school. It seems that cheating is a reasonable decision, but the long-term consequences are devastating. Cheating comes with many consequences that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Some effects of cheating might be positive but, the long-term consequences for the student himself, the society, and the institutions are not worth it.
