CFC (Cathechism for Filipino Catholics), 1391 “The church is one, first from her very source, the One living God in three Persons, second, the Church is one in her founders, Jesus Christ. ”
The CFC confirms that the Church is One because of these reasons: (1) Source: the Triune God, the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit, (2) Founder: Jesus Christ, dwelling in the believers, penetrating and ruling over the entire Church. The Church, then, is one in her source, her means and her goal. “The Church shines forth as a people made one with the unity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”. As a visible sign of this unity, Christ “put Peter at the head of the other Apostles, and in him, set up a lasting and visible source and foundation of unity of faith and of communion. ”
